My Year In Books And Challenges 2016

At the start of 2016 I signed up to three bookish challenges!  Here’s how I did!

At the start of 2016 I set my Goodreads Book Challenge.  I went back and forth thinking of how many books I should set my goal at considering I didn’t meet my target in 2015.  In the end I settled on 75 books although if I read one book a week I would be happy.

I’ve not had the best reading year personally this year.  This was not because there were no brilliant books to read, it was all down to a huge horrible reading slump I hit around May time.  I had a lot going on personally at the start of the year and if I’m honest it all got quite on top of me and began starting to affect my mental health and thus my concentration levels were shot.  As the months passed it got a little better, but did not improve my reading levels.  One major problem I found was that I would start a book, really enjoy it, get halfway and then put it down unable to finish it through my own doing.  This happened often and was super annoying!

It is now the end of 2016 and here’s how I did…..

Whilst Goodreads states that I only read 37 books this year (and therefore failing my Goodreads challenge) I know I have possibly read more as I have not kept up to date with tracking my reading very well this year (one thing to make sure I do next year) and Goodreads does not include all those books I half read either.

Here are the books I have read in 2016….

This does not include any books I have started reading and have not yet finished.  Any I have started and not yet finished I will be deleting from my Currently Reading section on Goodreads.

I’m disappointed that I didn’t hit my target, but I am still happy with what I have read in 2016.

I’m hoping for a better 2017 though!

After signing up to this challenge in 2015 and loving it I knew that I would be signing up for 2016!

Kirsty from the wonderful The Overflowing Library is hosted the British Books Challenge 2016.

The challenge was to read 12 books or more by authors from the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) over the course of the year, review them on my blog and link them up on the relevant monthly link up page.

Now, whilst I read 21 books by UK authors in 2016 I only got a chance to review 12 of these in total which therefore count towards the challenge!

Here are the books I read and reviewed that counted towards the challenge.  You can click on the pictures to take you to the reviews!

I also signed up to the 2016 Classics Challenge which I thought was such a fab idea as I really wanted to read more classics!

Stacey from the wonderful Pretty Books hosted for 2016 and has been participating for a few years herself now!

The challenge was to read 12 classic books over the course of the year and review them on my blog!

Unfortunately I didn’t read any classic books over the course of the year!

#FAIL

I’m looking forward to a fresh start for my 2017 reading!  I can’t wait!

Happy Reading
